On the heels of Blue Engine Records’ banner 2019─which included six album releases and a GRAMMY® Award-nomination for Una Noche con Rubén Blades─Jazz at Lincoln Center’s in-house recording label proudly announces plans to release four new albums featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis in January and February of 2020. These releases include The Music of Wayne Shorter, which finds tenor saxophone titan Wayne Shorter performing some of his most beloved compositions alongside the JLCO and will be available digitally and on CD January 31.

Jazz at Lincoln Center sets the tone for the most romantic day of the year with a Valentine’s Day celebration inclusive of love and live music taking place at two of New York City’s most iconic venues. In Rose Theater, NEA Jazz Master Dianne Reeves (February 14–15) will return to the House of Swing with her effortlessly powerful sound and broad spectrum of sensual repertoire for her ninth consecutive Valentine’s Day performance at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Additionally, Grammy Award-nominated jazz pianist and vocalist Freddy Cole returns to Dizzy’s Club with the Freddy Cole Legacy Band to perform Songs for Lovers (February 14-17).

Dizzy’s Club ushers in the new year with a stellar lineup featuring jazz veterans and up-and-coming musicians. Highlights include JLCO Saxophonist Walter Blanding and his quartet (January 17-19); Darius, Chris, and Dan Brubeck’s kick-off to Dave Brubeck’s centennial year (January 12); the Brianna Thomas Band(January 9-10); the Benny Green Trio(January 23-26); and Willie Jones III’s tribute to late pianist Larry Willis (January 22). Grammy Award-nominated Christian Sands returns to the club with his trio (January 14), and rising stars Ashley Pezzotti (January 6), Russell Hall (January 11) and Isaiah J. Thompson (January 13) headline their own shows.

Jazz at Lincoln Center fills its halls with the sounds of the holidays every December. In addition to the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra’s long-running Big Band Holidays tradition in Rose Theater, the Dizzy’s Club holiday lineup includes Ted Rosenthal Trio: Winter Wonderland (December 16); Etienne Charles: Creole Christmas (December 17); Duchess (December 18) and Riley’s Red Hot Holidays (December 19–20). The legendary NEA Jazz piano master Barry Harris celebrates his 90th birthday from December 21-24 and the Carlos Henriquez Nonet returns from December 26-31. After ringing in 2019 with sold-out sets, Henriquez will usher in 2020 with special New Year’s Eve sets, complete with a prix fixe menu and party favors.

In past concerts that have been described by the New York Times as being “soulful,” “evocative,” and “playing directly to the band’s strengths,” the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis performed original compositions inspired by masters of modern art including Romare Bearden, Stuart Davis, Sam Gilliam, Winslow Homer, Wifredo Lam, Norman Lewis and Piet Mondrian. On August 2, 2019, Blue Engine Records will release the studio recordings of these charts on a new album entitled Jazz and Art.
