Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Jazz For Young People concerts are some of the most engaging and fun afternoon concerts in the city, designed to entertain and inspire family audiences. In the first Family Concert of the season, Jazz at Lincoln Center celebrates the life and music of pianist, composer and living legend Chick Corea in Family Concert: Who is Chick Corea? in Rose Theater on Saturday, October 5 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Hosted by trumpeter, educator and former Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra member Sean Jones, this hour-long educational concert program will be a fall highlight for school age children as well as their caregivers. Alongside Sean’s engaging narration, Chick’s uplifting game-changing music will be performed by rising stars in jazz piano Sean Mason, Micah Thomas and Tyler Henderson.
Family Concert: Who is Chick Corea? takes place in Rose Theater at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, located on Broadway at 60th Street in New York City. Free pre-concert activities for families take place prior to the show.
Chick Corea has found endless delight in uncovering new musical wonders. Through acoustic and electric jazz, inspired duets, and all sorts of bold “fusions,” this musical explorer has remained one of the most popular figures in music, earning 24 Grammy Awards (and counting) while maintaining the deepest respect of his peers. The Family Concert tells the inspiring story of his legacy built alongside Miles Davis, Return to Forever, Herbie Hancock, Béla Fleck, and even the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis.

Jazz at Lincoln Center’s education programs drive the organization’s efforts to advance the appreciation, understanding, and performance of jazz. The programs have been developed under the guiding vision of Managing and Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis, who during his visits to schools throughout our nation observed that the caliber of jazz education was often inferior to that of other fine arts. In response, Jazz at Lincoln Center offers a continuum of jazz education programs that are designed to suit the varied interests and capabilities of children, teens, and adults. Students learn about jazz’s distinctly American heritage and history as well as its greatest musicians and compositions; they explore its connection to other art forms and study how to play jazz. Today, over two-thirds of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s programming is educational—reaching more than 1,000,000 individuals of all ages and experiences in all 50 states through concerts, webcasting, direct musical instruction and distribution of music scores free of charge.
Jazz at Lincoln Center, now in its 32nd concert season, continues to present the highest quality in artistry and musicianship throughout its 29 programs in Rose Theater and The Appel Room, as well as in the hundreds of performances at Dizzy’s Club. This season is about big ideas and inspiring figures, and further exemplifies all jazz is modern, bridging gaps between people of all backgrounds and ages.

Ticket prices for Jazz for Young People concerts in Rose Theater are $10-$25, dependent upon seating section.
All single tickets for The Appel Room and Rose Theater can be purchased through jazz.org 24 hours a day or through CenterCharge at 212-721-6500, open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office, located on Broadway at 60th Street, ground floor.
