The Dizzy’s Club lineup in August showcases the work of legends from jazz history as well as award-winning jazz musicians of today. Highlights include Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra clarinetist and saxophonist Victor Goines performing with his quartet alongside a string quartet (August 8-11); master drummer Louis Hayes and his sextet (August 13-14); Grammy Award-winning bassist and composer Ben Wolfe with trumpet icon Randy Brecker (August 1-3) and vibraphonist Warren Wolf (August 1-4); and the Harlem Quartet with bassist John Patitucci (August 12). Vocalist Charenee Wade takes the stage to celebrate Betty Carter at 90 (August 6-7), and the Charles Pillow Large Ensemble offers a new perspective on Miles Davis’ electric years with traditional big band instrumentation (August 19).

Jazz at Lincoln Center and JazzTimes today announced the dates for the 2020 Jazz Congress, a conference which brings together members of the global jazz community to network, as well as grow the audience for the music. The annual gathering also seeks to nurture businesses and organizations that promote, produce, present, market and support jazz. The third annual Jazz Congress will take place on January 13 & 14, 2020 at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, located at Broadway at 60th Street, New York, New York.

Throughout summer, Jazz at Lincoln Center offers an extensive range of free concerts and cultural events for all ages, including Jazz in Times Square. Jazz at Lincoln Center offers special pricing for students year-round.

In the month of July, Dizzy’s Club offers 14 unique shows, featuring the greatest talents in jazz as well as their protégés. Brooklyn-born, Harlem-raised vocalist, guitarist, and composer Allan Harris pays tribute to Eddie Jefferson and Nat “King” Cole (July 9), while clarinetist Adrian Cox celebrates the music of Edmond Hall (July 23). Trumpeter Jon Faddis returns to his mentor Dizzy Gillespie’s namesake venue (July 18–21), and Dr. Eddie Henderson takes the stage for a set of straight-ahead jazz and soulful post bop (July 12–13). In collaboration with Brasil Summerfest, Dizzy’s Club presents the New York City debut of the Amaro Freitas Trio (July 31).

On July 1, 2019, in the spirit of Independence Day, Wynton Marsalis’ third symphony,Swing Symphony—a musical manifesto on American ideals and the melding of jazz and classical —will be released on all digital platforms by Blue Engine Records, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s in-house record label.Swing Symphony will be available for pre-order on Friday, June 7.

Jazz at Lincoln Center today announced the three top-placing high school jazz bands in the nation in the prestigious 24th Annual Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.
