Branford Marsalis Quartet Performs Selections From Grammy-Award Nominated Album The Secrets Between The Shadow And The Soul And More At Jazz At Lincoln Center

On February 28 -29 at 8:00 p.m., the multi-Grammy Award–winning Branford Marsalis Quartet returns to Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater. In addition to performing tunes that have established Marsalis as a standard-bearer of modern instrumental jazz, the group will perform selections from the GRAMMY-Award nominated album The Secrets Between the Shadow and the Soul featuring new originals by Marsalis and members of the band.

Blue Engine Records,Jazz at Lincoln Center’s in-house recording label, releases Sherman Irby’s Inferno by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. Irby, the lead alto saxophonist of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, cleverly interprets Dante Alighieri’s epic poem from “The Divine Comedy” to create a sweeping work that takes listeners on a lyrically swinging tour of the underworld’s nine circles. Sherman Irby’s Inferno will be available exclusively on all digital platforms on January 17, 2020.

Jazz at Lincoln Center and JazzTimes today announced NEA Jazz Master, pianist, composer, and educator Dr. Barry Harris is the recipient of the 2020 Bruce Lundvall Visionary Award in recognition of Dr. Harris’ dedication as a mentor to hundreds of jazz artists for nearly half a century. His continued inspiration to these artists has led them to reach new audiences with their own work.
