Jazz at Lincoln Center announces Grand Seiko as “Official Timekeeper” of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2020-21/2021-22 season. A brand that raises the pure essentials of watchmaking to an art form, Grand Seiko will be a sponsor of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2020-21/2021-22 concert seasons.

Faced with enormous challenges due to concerns around COVID-19, band directors and high school student jazz musicians around the country have applied innovative and creative approaches to perform with and learn from each other. Inspired by this dedication and commitment, Jazz at Lincoln Center continues its support for this unique community and today announced plans to salute these high school students at the 2021 Virtual Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Festival on June 4—5, 2021.

To ensure the safety of participants during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Jazz at Lincoln Center and JazzTimes will hold this year’s edition of the annual Jazz Congress conference online, featuring interactive programs and performances designed to address the concerns and needs facing the global jazz community during this challenging, unprecedented time.

On January 15, 2021, on the occasion of a new year and the 2021 U.S. presidential inauguration, Wynton Marsalis will release The Democracy! Suite, the follow-up to the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer’s provocative work, The Ever Fonky Lowdown, which was released in 2020. Featuring a hand-picked lineup consisting of members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, The Democracy! Suite will be available globally as a digital album on Blue Engine Records.

Jazz at Lincoln Center will ring in the holiday season with messages of peace and good cheer with the premiere of a one-of-a-kind virtual concert event, Big Band Holidays, on Saturday, December 19 at 7:00p.m. EST. Ticket holders will have on-demand access to the concert through Sunday, December 27 at 3:00a.m. EST.

Jazz at Lincoln Center continues its mission to introduce new generations to America’s greatest art form with two new programs designed for family audiences: WeBop Family Jazz Party, a virtual New Orleans Jazz Jam, on Saturday, November 21; and A Swingin’ Sesame Street Celebration digital album featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, available now.
