April 18–19, 7:30 p.m.
New York, NY
(March 27, 2025) —

Jazz at Lincoln Center proudly celebrates Cuban maestro Paquito D’Rivera for more than seven decades of unparalleled improvisation, syncopated harmonies, and virtuosic orchestration that have earned the living legend an NEA Jazz Master honor.

Paquito D’Rivera: 70+ Years in Music, on April 18-19, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at Rose Theater, honors the extraordinary career of the clarinetist, saxophonist, and composer. This special event will feature D’Rivera himself, joined by Latin Academy of Recording Arts Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Chucho Valdés, along with an international lineup of distinguished guest musicians as they present a retrospective of D’Rivera illustrious career.

A native of Havana, Cuba, where he developed his exemplary musicianship, and a U.S. resident since 1980, D’Rivera is perhaps the foremost living exponent of coalescing the musical dialects of the New World with jazz and classical music. An alumnus of Dizzy Gillespie’s Pan-American-oriented United Nations Orchestra during the 1980s, D’Rivera, 76, will render the multiple dialects he’s mastered along the way with idiomatic clarity and creative spirit.

Joining the maestro and his quintet (trumpeter Diego Urcola, pianist Alex Brown, bassist Oscar Stagnaro, and drummer Mark Walker) on these remarkable concerts, in addition to Valdés, are Roberta Gambarini, vocals; and Edmar Castañeda, harp; Roberto Vizcaíno, percussion; Victor Provost, steel pan; Héctor del Curto, bandoneon; Yotam Silberstein, guitar; Sebastian Laverde, vibraphones and marimba; and the Young People’s Chorus of New York City.

Rose Theater is located in Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, at Broadway 60th Street in New York City. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit jazz.org/paquitodrivera.
