Throughout April, Jazz at Lincoln Center proudly celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month with programs honoring the legacies and influences of iconic jazz figures, perfect for jazz fans of all ages. These monthlong special concert events take place throughout the House of Swing — Rose Theater, The Appel Room, and Dizzy’s Club.
The Real Ambassadors: Armstrong and Brubeck, a reimagining of the 1962 album documenting the Civil Rights Movement, takes place in The Appel Room on Friday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. ET and on Saturday, April 5 at 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. ET. This collaboration with the Louis Armstrong House Museum features an incredible group of jazz musicians, including Shenel Johns, Camille Thurman, Vuyo Sotashe, C. Anthony Bryant and more.
Family Concert: Who is Gerry Mulligan? is a relaxed performance open to all ages and designed for people with autism, sensory and communication disorders or learning disabilities. The concert, under the music direction of Ted Nash and featuring the big band sounds of the Future of Jazz Orchestra, explores the world of saxophonist and composer Gerry Mulligan in Rose Theater on April 5 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
Paquito D’Rivera, joined by special guests celebrates more than seven decades of unparalleled improvisation, syncopated harmonies, and virtuosic orchestration that have earned the living legend an NEA Jazz Master honor.
Contemporary Jazz Masterpieces with co-music direction by Wynton Marsalis and Steven Feifke, featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis explores new standards and contemporary masterworks, and takes place in Rose Theater on April 25-26 at 7:30 p.m. ET nightly.

Family Concert: Who is Gerry Mulligan? introduces young audiences to the groundbreaking music and innovative arrangements of Mulligan.. Led by Grammy-winning music director and former JLCO member Ted Nash, the Future of Jazz Orchestra brings Mulligan’s music to life with lively performances and fascinating stories, highlighting his influential artistry as a player, composer, and orchestrator. This family-friendly event is designed to inspire and educate while offering a fun and interactive experience for children and adults alike.

Duke at 125 Gala Concert

The Duke at 125 Gala concert pays tribute to the great Duke Ellington and features performances anchored by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and some of the finest instrumentalists and vocalists of our time including flautist Baqir Abbas, saxophonist Patrick Bartley, drummer Jeff Hamilton, pianist Sean Mason, vocalist Kate Kortum, bassist Philip Norris and more.
As part of the gala concert, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater dancers will perform Pas de Duke accompanied by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. Pas de Duke is Alvin Ailey’s spirited modern dance translation of a classical pas de deux, originally created in 1976, featuring jazz and modern dance, all set to soaring, pulsing music by Ailey’s beloved Duke Ellington.
