Mary Stallings, an extraordinary vocalist and fan-favorite headliner at Jazz at Lincoln Center, will return to The Appel Room stage with the Emmet Cohen Trio and special guest Freddy Cole at Frederick P. Rose Hall on April 17 & 18 at 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Jazz at Lincoln Center’s The Appel Room at Frederick P. Rose Hall is located at Broadway at 60th Street in New York, New York.
Audiences will enjoy breathtaking views of the city while Mary Stallings sings her heart out alongside multifaceted pianist Emmet Cohen as he leads his trio, featuring bassist Russell Hall and drummer Kyle Poole. A rising piano star, Emmet Cohen is the winner of the 2019 American Pianists Awards and the Cole Porter Fellow of the American Pianists Association, and Artist-in-Residence at the University of Indianapolis. He also placed first in both the 2014 American Jazz Pianists Competition and the 2011 Phillips Piano Competition at the University of West Florida. This special concert is a true multigenerational showcase, bringing two veteran jazz vocalists together with a trio of young, first-rate instrumentalists.
Over the course of her career, Mary Stallings has performed with jazz legends including Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Geri Allen, and Harry “Sweets” Edison. Adding to that list is fan-favorite crooner, Freddy Cole, who will once again join Mary on stage for a few iconic tunes. Special guest tenor saxophonist Houston Person, guitarist Dan Wilson and trumpeter/vocalist Benny Benack III will also take the stage throughout the evening for select tunes.
A free pre-concert discussion about the music and artists will take place at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
