Jazz at Lincoln Center sets the tone for the most romantic day of the year with a Valentine’s Day celebration inclusive of love and live music taking place at two of New York City’s most iconic venues. In Rose Theater, NEA Jazz Master Dianne Reeves (February 14–15) will return to the House of Swing with her effortlessly powerful sound and broad spectrum of sensual repertoire for her ninth consecutive Valentine’s Day performance at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Additionally, Grammy Award-nominated jazz pianist and vocalist Freddy Cole returns to Dizzy’s Club with the Freddy Cole Legacy Band to perform Songs for Lovers (February 14-17).
Rose Theater and Dizzy’s Club are located in Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, at Broadway at 60th Street in New York City. For additional information, visit jazz.org.
“I am so looking forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day at Jazz at Lincoln Center,” said Dianne Reeves. “It’s an enchanting way to start the year…to commence new beginnings…and this year the night will be dedicated to exploring different flavors of love. There will be beautiful music from some of my favorite Brazilian composers along with a selection of jazz standards…and the matter of love and perspectives on love will most certainly rule during the upcoming 2020 Valentine’s engagement.”
Freddy Cole will also bring an air of romance to Dizzy’s with what People magazine has called his “gorgeous autumnal baritone, expressive phrasing and pitch-perfect feel for jazz standards, pop tunes and love ballads.”
For those celebrating at home, Jazz at Lincoln Center has curated two Spotify playlists exclusively for Spotify listeners: “Jazz for Hopeless Romantics,” featuring 13 timeless tracks by artists past and present, including Chet Baker, Kurt Elling, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Diane Schuur; and “Dianne Reeves’ V-Day Mixtape” featuring Reeves’s personal selections as well as romantic tunes by Nina Simone, Al Green, Sullivan Fortner, Geri Allen, Ron Carter, and Jimmy Cobb. The full playlists are available for enjoyment on Spotify.
