New York, NY
(November 05, 2015) —

Jazz at Lincoln Center presents Divas of the Silver Screen: Celebrating Lena Horne, Rosemary Clooney & Ethel Waters on Friday & Saturday, December 18 & 19, 2015, at 7:00pm & 9:30pm. Following a major renovation of Frederick P. Rose Hall’s public spaces, this concert will be the first 2015-16 season concert presented in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s beloved The Appel Room.

Tony Award-winning actress and vocalist Adriane Lenox, whose brilliance in the Broadway hit After Midnight was met with critical acclaim, is among the talented performers who will lead this tribute to these legendary ladies of film and television. The concert also features fresh new voices Martina DaSilva, Tatiana Eva-Marie, and Shenel Johns. Rising star pianist Chris Pattishall, a protégé of piano giants Mulgrew Miller and Marcus Roberts, serves as Musical Director for the concert.

Tap dancers Michela Marino Lerman and Joseph C. Wiggan add a rare spin to the show with the added element of dance routines from iconic scenes in the golden era of stage and screen. Alphonso Horne, Patrick Bartley, Corey Wilcox, Bryan Carter, and Yasushi Nakamura, each first-call sidemen and cherished regular performers at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, provide musical support to this incredible cast. Together, the cast of musicians, vocalists and dancers will explore classics such as “Stormy Weather” and “Taking a Chance on Love.”

Themed ‘Jazz and American Song’, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 28th season celebrates the music of the stage and silver screen and uplifts jazz’s emerging voices through an impressive array of more than 80 concerts and programs, anchored by the exceptional Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis.
