As part of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s upcoming Billie Holiday Festival (scheduled to take place on April 10 – 11) honoring the singer’s centennial, school-age children and their families are invited to join musical director and pianist Aaron Diehl and vocalist Charenee Wade in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Family Concert: Who is Billie Holiday? This special concert event for families takes place on Saturday, February 7 at 1pm and 3pm at Rose Theater in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s home, Frederick P. Rose Hall, located at Broadway at 60th Street in New York, New York. Pre-concert activities, including visual arts and music workshops, are free for ticketholders and begin at 12:15pm and 2:15pm.
Jazz at Lincoln Center’s family concerts spark curiosity and imagination through vivid conversation and lively performances. Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Who is Billie Holiday? concert will introduce budding jazz enthusiasts to Billie Holiday, one of the most recognizable voices of the 20th century.
Aaron Diehl, a pianist the New York Times calls a “revelation,” will serve as musical director. Vocalist Charenee Wade, who has been making waves on the New York jazz scene and beyond, continues to ascend as an impressive and necessary voice in jazz. Through song and commentary, the musicians will celebrate Holiday’s music and her story as a courageous exquisite cultural icon.

Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Family Concert: Who is Billie Holiday? will stream live in high-definition audio and video for free to a global audience via jazz.org/live. The concerts will also be available on Livestream’s mobile and connected TV applications with real-time DVR, chat, photos, and other materials available to fans worldwide.
Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2014–15 Concert and Education Season features a season-long journey “through the Americas.” Through a diverse array of concerts and programs, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 27th season will explore how jazz has both integrated and influenced the rich musical traditions of the Caribbean and North, South, and Central America. This season, Jazz at Lincoln Center also celebrates the 10th anniversary of Frederick P. Rose Hall, “The House of Swing,” which opened its doors on October 18, 2004.
