New York, NY – October 21, 2013 – This holiday season, Jazz at Lincoln Center brings back Big Band Holidays, a favorite seasonal tradition in Rose Theater, and the second annual Ring In The Swing: A New Year’s Eve Dance Party, the organization’s swing dance party and concert, in The Allen Room.
Holiday festivities have been de rigueur at Jazz at Lincoln Center since December 1989, when Wynton Marsalis’ band and The Lincoln Center Classical Jazz Orchestra presented “A Classical Jazz Christmas.” Jazz at Lincoln Center has proudly continued the tradition over the years. For this year’s Big Band Holidays program, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will present fresh arrangements of timeless holiday classics, joined by vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant, who The New York Times said “radiates authority and delivers a set with almost a dramatic arc.” Big Band Holidays takes place in Rose Theater on December 12-14 at 8pm, with a 2pm matinee on December 14. These concerts will be streamed live for free to a global audience in high-definition audio and video via new.livestream.com/jazz.
On New Year’s Eve, Jazz at Lincoln Center celebrates Ring in the Swing: A New Year’s Eve Dance Party. Back dropped by the finest view in New York City, hip revelers will launch into 2014 with the help of alternating appearances by the Pedrito Martinez Group and the Dominick Farinacci Swing Dance Octet with special guest vocalist Charenee Wade. Ring in the Swing: A New Year’s Eve Dance Party takes place on December 31 with doors opening at 8:30pm in The Allen Room. In addition to a full night of live music, the evening includes an open bar, Southern style buffet dinner, champagne toast at midnight, and party favors.
