New York, NY (October 7, 2013) – Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola’s November lineup features much anticipated performances by the Ted Nash Big Band, Jacky Terrasson Quartet, George Cables, Bobby Sanabria, Lavay Smith, Niels Lan Doky Trio, Wycliffe Gordon and more. Ted Nash Big Band – Chakra CD Release

Multi-instrumentalist and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra member Ted Nash celebrates the release of his twelfth solo recording featuring a 17-piece big band.

Myron Walden Momentum

Described as “…uncannily evocative of the 1960s Miles Davis Quintet” with “a first rate band” by the New York Times, Momentum celebrates the release of their third album.

The Danny Mixon Quartet

The former musical director of Harlem’s Lenox Lounge, Danny Mixon is a talented pianist who over the decades has played with many jazz greats, including Betty Carter, Kenny Dorham, Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Frank Foster, Grant Green, Pharaoh Sanders, and Dee Dee Bridgewater.

Niels Lan Doky Trio – Scandinavian Standards CD Release

A “melodic player with a deep and enlightening touch” (Telerama), Danish-born pianist Niels Lan Doky celebrates the release of Scandinavian Standards with a one-night only engagement at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola  joined by two formidable sidemen.

A Birthday Celebration

One of the most sought-after sidemen in jazz for more than four decades, George Cables is equally distinguished as a leader with more than 20 albums under his own name. He celebrates his 69th birthday at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola leading a trio with special guest Victor Lewis.

In honor of iconic NYC composer and jazz musician’s David Amram’s 83rd birthday, The Amigos Band will feature the maestro’s joyous improvisational and multi-instrumental capabilities on a variety of musical textures from around the globe.

The Brooklyn Jazz Underground Meets the Queens Jazz Overground

The Brooklyn Jazz Underground (BJU) and The Queens Jazz OverGround (QJOG) both aim to build a greater awareness of original music emerging from their respective boroughs. They share an evening at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola  for this double bill of each collective’s original music.

The Music of Duke, Dizzy, and the Dorseys

For the second year in a row, Wycliffe Gordon has been voted “Best Trombone” in the Annual Downbeat Critics Poll. He kicks off the holiday season at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola with a special Thanksgiving night performance featuring the music of Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Tommy Dorsey, and Jimmy Dorsey.

*There will be one extended headline set only on Thursday, November 28. Doors open at 5:30pm and the music will begin at 7pm.  Cover includes a special Thanksgiving meal. A late night session will also occur that evening.

LATE NIGHT SESSION:
Scheduled at 11:30 every Tuesday through Saturday, Late Night Session features some of jazz’s most talented up and coming artists, with a special invited jam session. Hosted by vocalist Michael Mwenso, on Thursday and Saturdaynights only.
