Who/What/When:
The Bad Plus with Bill Frisell will collaborate for the first time in New York City at Jazz at Lincoln Center on April 12-13. The special concert event will also mark the first time The Bad Plus performs on Jazz at Lincoln Center stages, in celebration of its 25th Anniversary season. The Bad Plus, the highly-curated, equilaterally-oriented trio (pianist Ethan Iverson, bassist Reid Anderson, and drummer Dave King) is best known for idea-packed deconstructions of post-60s pop and the post-Stravinsky Euro-canon. Joining the band is the infinitely resourceful guitarist Bill Frisell. “He’s a big influence on us, first of all,” Iverson says of Frisell. “He’s someone we studied when we were coming up. In high school we bought his records and we loved him. For me, I especially love the work with Paul Motian and Joe Lovano. That’s probably one of my favorite groups. It is easy playing with him because we always studied his music. He can play out, but so can we. That’s the avant-garde part of it.”
Iverson says, “It’s great to be here at Jazz at Lincoln Center. The Allen Room is a great room and I think Jazz at Lincoln Center has proven to be a place for a musician to evolve, so it’s great to get a gig and be a part of that team.”

Ticket prices are $65 for the 7:30pm sets and $55 or $10 for the 9:30pm sets.

Tickets can also be purchased at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office, located on Broadway at 60th Street, ground floor.
