Eddie palmieri: A career retrospective
Featuring the Eddie Palmieri Latin Jazz Band
and the Eddie Palmieri Salsa Orchestra
December 14-15 in Rose Theater
Who/What/When:
Eddie Palmieri, the “genius and prophet of Afro-Caribbean jazz,” (Jazz Beyond Jazz) performs on Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 25th anniversary season in the concert event Eddie Palmieri: A Career Retrospective. On December 14-15 in Rose Theater, the virtuoso pianist and 2013 National Endowment of the Arts Jazz Master will perform with his two bands: his Salsa Orchestra and his Latin Jazz Band. On these special evenings, Palmieri will draw from his spectacular career and demonstrate form-stretching salsa innovations with his sui generis brand of “Jazz Latino.”
Ticket holders are welcome to a pre-concert discussion at 7pm.
Throughout the years, Palmieri has performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center with his many bands including the La Perfecta II Orquestra in Rose Theater and his Afro Caribbean Jazz Sextet in Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola in 2009. Palmieri says his upcoming performance will feature “an exciting orchestra and if the people are sitting down, they will be dancing in their seat.”
