Who/What/Where/When:   This holiday season, Jazz at Lincoln Center brings back Big Band Holidays, a favorite seasonal tradition in Rose Theater, and inaugurates Ring In The Swing: A New Year’s Eve Dance Party, the organization’s first swing dance party and concert in The Allen Room.

Holiday celebrations have been de rigueur at Jazz at Lincoln Center since December 1989, when Wynton Marsalis’ band and The Lincoln Center Classical Jazz Orchestra presented “A Classical Jazz Christmas.”   Jazz at Lincoln Center has proudly continued the tradition over the years.  For this year’s Big Band Holidays concert, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will present fresh arrangements of timeless holiday classics, joined by vocalist René Marie, who All About Jazz called “one of the most arresting and complex vocal personalities performing today,” and vocalist Gregory Porter, who in a brief time has racked up a continuing stream of accolades and awards.  Big Band Holidays takes place in Rose Theater on December 7-8 at 8pm, with a 2pm matinee on December 8.

On New Year’s Eve, Jazz at Lincoln Center launches Ring in the Swing: A New Year’s Eve Dance Party.  Back dropped by the finest view in New York City, hip revelers will launch into 2013 with help from The Harlem Renaissance Orchestra, whose stated mission over its two-decade run has been to “keep the spirit of big band swing music alive and thriving” by animating the classic big band charts of Count Basie, Lionel Hampton, Earl ‘Fatha’ Hines, Duke Ellington, and Benny Goodman. Ring in the Swing: A New Year’s Eve Dance Party takes place on December 31 beginning at 8:30pm in The Allen Room.  Produced in collaboration with Ron McGugins.  Admission includes two sets of live music, open bar, dinner buffet, party favors and champagne toast in the sexiest room in New York City.

Where:  Jazz at Lincoln Center’s home, Frederick P. Rose Hall, Broadway at 60th Street, New York, New York.
